Beyond Survival tells the story of New York’s Domestic Violence Survivors Justice Act and the leadership of currently and formerly incarcerated survivors who fought to create it. Through interviews with survivors, advocates, legislators, and judges, the film traces the decade-long campaign for this landmark sentencing reform and the ongoing struggle to implement it.
